UTILITIES > NEW CASTLE WASTEWATER RESTRICTIONS

Information on New Castle sewer dept. wastewater restrictions such as conventionals and non-conventionals.

Any wastewater having effluent characteristics in excess of:

Conventionals

CONSTITUENTS

Biochemical Oxygen Demand (B.O.D.) 200 mg/l
Total Suspended Solids (T.S.S.) 250 mg/l
Phosphorus 10 mg/l
Oil & Grease (O & G) Total 100 mg/l

Non-Conventionals

CONSTITUENTS

MAXIMUM

Arsenic 2.00 mg/l
Cadmium 0.10 mg/l
Copper 1.00 mg/l
Cyanide 0.50 mg/l
Lead 0.50 mg/l
Mercury 0.01 mg/l
Nickel 1.00 mg/l
Hexavalent Chromium 1.00 mg/l
Total Chromium 2.00 mg/l
Zinc 1.00 mg/l

These limitations are based on process and contact cooling waters. Any other waters added prior to the point of monitoring shall reflect lower limitations.

The Authority may impose mass limitations on dischargers which are using dilution to meet the Pretreatment Standards or Requirements of this Ordinance, or in other cases where the imposition of mass limitations is deemed appropriate by the Authority.
